I’ve been building brands and reputations for more than 20 years, creating and narrating addictive stories long before storytelling became a marketing “thing”!
I started my career doing crisis and corporate comms, winning a PR Week Sword of Excellence Award for a lobbying campaign for Talisman Energy, and headed up the work which led to the Food Standards Agency relocating to Aberdeen.
I was then taken on by Tennent’s to handle corporate and investor relations for the sale of the company. After being bought by Interbrew, I joined the brand team where I was promoted three times and helped deliver award-winning marketing activity, before joining the senior management team at Whyte & Mackay where we made The Dalmore and Jura the fastest growing malts in the world (and made Richard Paterson the most famous master blender around the globe).
I then took a career break, becoming a stay at home dad, and dabbled in the world of freelance and contracting, working for the likes of the National Autistic Society, the James Hutton Institute, the University of Edinburgh, the Scottish Government and Skills Development Scotland.
More recently I joined NCTech as Head of Marketing where I am tasked with enhancing the global reach and profile of this innovative tech start up which specialises in AR and VR cameras, data capture and content (working with partners including Apple, the BBC, Google, Intel, Pixar, Sony and others).
Watch this two minute video for a quick overview of my experience and skills (it’s a wee bit out of date now, but you get the picture!)
